
Dr. Nimmi Zulbainarni, S.Pi., M.Si., CWM®️ is an Associate Professor at the School of Business, IPB University, and an expert in Marine and Fisheries Biobusiness Management, with more than 27 years of dedication in academia, fisheries socio-economics, natural resource economics, and bioeconomic modeling. An alumna of IPB University, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Fisheries Socio-Economics, master’s degree in Agricultural Economics with a concentration in Natural Resource and Environmental Economics, and doctoral degree in Agricultural Economics from IPB University. She also participated in a non-degree short-term student exchange program at the Faculty of Fisheries, Kagoshima University, Japan, with research entitled Poverty in the Large Catch: An Evaluation of Coastal Pelagic Fisheries in Kagoshima Prefecture (2002–2003). She is also a Certified Wealth Manager (CWM®️).
She has held several strategic academic and institutional positions, including Vice Dean for Resources, Cooperation, and Development at the School of Business IPB University, Advisor to the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries for Socio-Economic Affairs, Head of HR Recruitment, Evaluation, and Development at IPB University, Secretary of the Center for Gender and Child Studies (PKGA) IPB, and Member of the IPB Academic Senate. She has also served as an assessor for LAMEMBA and has taught at IPB University, the Fisheries Higher Education institution, and Universitas Indonesia.
Dr. Nimmi’s areas of expertise include business microeconomics, managerial economics, quantitative methods for finance, biobusiness systems, natural resource and environmental economics, bioeconomic modeling, fisheries and marine management, organizational theory, human resource and performance management, corporate leadership and governance, intrapreneurship, and organizational sustainability. She has also been an active contributor to policy discussions involving the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Ministry of Finance, Bank Indonesia, and national electronic media.
Dr. Nimmi has been actively involved in national policy, professional associations, and public discourse on marine and fisheries development. She currently serves as Secretary General of Masyarakat Perikanan Nusantara (MPN), and has held leadership roles in ISEI, ISPIKANI, KADIN Indonesia, and MUI.
Internationally, Dr. Nimmi has participated in academic, institutional, and policy forums across Japan, Australia, the Netherlands, Singapore, ASEAN countries, Switzerland, Finland, New Zealand, and Poland. In 2019, she joined an IPB delegation visit to Switzerland, including engagements with IMD Lausanne and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland. She was also involved in a market assessment survey on seaweed in Italy under Indonesia Climate Change Trust Fund (ICCTF)-Badan Perencanaan Pembangunan Nasional (Bappenas), conducted in Rome, and Trieste, focusing on seaweed supply chains, hydrocolloid products, and downstream market opportunities in Europe.
Her scholarly contributions include books and publications on fisheries bioeconomic modeling, SDG 14, marine policy, and economic valuation, including Teori dan Praktik Pemodelan Bioekonomi dalam Pengelolaan Perikanan Tangkap, National Fisheries Platform to Achieve SDG’s 14, and Kebijakan Pembangunan Kelautan dan Perikanan Berbasis Valuasi Ekonomi.
